No. Padel rackets are solid, stringless, perforated and shorter, and the rules require a padel racket with a wrist cord. A tennis racket is not legal on a padel court and will not behave the way the game needs it to. We wrote a fuller explanation in the Learn hub.

Round rackets have the sweet spot in the middle of the face and are the most forgiving, which is why they suit beginners and improvers. Teardrop sits between the two. Diamond puts the sweet spot high for maximum power but is much less forgiving and really only suits advanced players. If you are unsure, round or teardrop is almost always the better buy.

Yes, and it is worth taking seriously — arm trouble is common in padel. Look for a softer core, a lower weight and a round shape, and keep your grip and overgrip in good condition. Our Racket Finder asks about this specifically and will steer you away from stiffer, heavier models.

Almost all padel rackets are made in one narrow grip size, and you adjust the feel with overgrips rather than buying a different handle. If the handle feels too thin, add an overgrip or two. There is a short guide to getting this right in the Learn hub.

We would recommend one. Most padel rackets die from wall and floor contact around the head, not from anything to do with how they were made. An edge protector is a few pounds and takes a couple of minutes to fit, and it is the cheapest thing you can do to extend the life of a racket.

It depends far more on how often you play than on price. A recreational player playing once a week will usually get a couple of seasons before the core noticeably softens. Someone playing four times a week will get through one considerably faster. There is a longer answer in the Learn hub.

Try not to, particularly in winter. Cold stiffens the EVA core and makes the face brittle, and a stiff cold racket is much more likely to crack on a mishit. Bring it indoors, and if it has been in a cold boot, let it come up to room temperature before you play with it.
